"Be the change you wish to see in the World" -- Mahatma Gandhi

It’s not always easy being genuinely green and often it’s very confusing as to what it means to be green.
We all know that clean air and water are essential and agree that excessively polluting the environment is wrong.

But, let’s take a look at our every day actions. We might find our “petty” actions have a negative effect on our environment. It just takes a slight change in how we think. If we all began thinking differently and became more conscious about our actions our world would benefit. You don’t have to sacrifice because it’s becoming easier to be green with more eco-friendly options in terms of recyclable consumer goods. Remember…Every little bit counts!

 Some Greener Thoughts...

When you leave your car running in idle excessively, did you know:

Over 10 seconds of idling uses more fuel than restarting the engine. An idling vehicle emits 20 times more pollution than one traveling 32 miles per hour.

When you drink water in a plastic bottle, did you know:

Water bottles are made from polyethylene terephthalate, which is derived from crude oil. Americans demand for bottled water uses 1. 5 million barrels of oil annually, enough to fuel 100,000 U.S. cars for an entire year. Invest in reusable aluminum or stainless-steel bottles.

86 percent of plastic water bottles in the United States become trash and it takes 1000 years to degrade!

When you use plastic bags, did you know:

According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. goes through 100 billion plastic shopping bags annually. It takes 430,000 gallons of oil to produce 100 million non-degradable plastic bags. Click here to receive your free recyclable shopping tote.

Plastics do NOT biodegrade. Rather, they photodegrade. This is a process where sunlight breaks down plastic into smaller and smaller pieces.

In San Antonio plastic bags can not be recycled in our recycle bins during weekly curbside service. HEB has recycling bins where you can drop-off ALL your plastic bags from any store.

Did you know:

Recycling an aluminum can takes 96% less energy than creating a new one. According to the EPA, 75% of Americans' trash can be recycled, but only 25% actually is.

2 billion disposable razors end up in US landfills every year. Go to www.recycline.com to get 100% recyclable disposable razors.

Over a billion incandescent light bulbs are purchased each year and they can not be recycled!
